The Founders: Kelsey Paasch & Jon Ballard
Workspace at The Gray Goose was founded by Kelsey Paasch and Jon Ballard, two passionate entrepreneurs who understand firsthand the challenges of building a business, finding focus, and staying connected in an ever-evolving work world.
What started as a vision for a beautiful, functional place to work quickly grew into something bigger. Jon and Kelsey didn’t want to create just another office rental – they wanted to build a community. A place where creatives, professionals, and business owners could collaborate, share ideas, and support each other’s growth.
Their shared goal? To offer a space that inspires productivity, encourages connection, and feels just as welcoming as it is professional – all in the heart of downtown Janesville.
Kelsey Paasch: Helping Entrepreneurs Succeed
Kelsey Paasch has built her career helping startups and small businesses turn ideas into thriving operations. As the founder of Contour Consulting, she has worked closely with entrepreneurs to streamline processes, scale efficiently, and navigate the challenges of running a business. She understands the struggles of working from home – balancing distractions, missing out on in-person collaboration, and struggling to separate work and personal life.
When she realized she needed a dedicated workspace for herself and her team, she also saw an opportunity to create something bigger. Rather than just renting an office, she wanted to build a space that would support entrepreneurs, encourage innovation, and foster meaningful connections. Now, she will be working out of The Gray Goose alongside other business owners, helping to shape a community where professionals can work smarter, network with like-minded individuals, and take their businesses to the next level.
Jon Ballard: Building Success from the Ground Up
Jon Ballard knows firsthand what it takes to build a business from the ground up. Over 20 years ago, he started Foremost Media from his basement with a vision to create a top-tier digital marketing and web development agency. Through hard work and the right business environment, Foremost Media has grown into a company with over 30 employees, serving clients locally and across the country.
Jon understands how important the right workspace can be. Moving into an office was a turning point for his business, giving him the focus and resources he needed to scale. Now, with his office on the second floor of The Gray Goose, he saw an opportunity to create a space for others who were in the same position he was years ago. He wanted to help freelancers, remote workers, and startups find a flexible, professional environment where they could grow without the long-term commitment and expense of traditional office space.
Together, Kelsey and Jon have built Workspace at The Gray Goose to be more than just an office. They have created a community where professionals can focus, collaborate, and succeed, all in a space designed for modern work. The Gray Goose building has a rich history that dates back to the 1800s, when it served as a tobacco warehouse in the heart of downtown Janesville. In 2016, the building underwent a $2 million renovation, transforming it into a modern office space while carefully preserving its historic character.
Today, the building features high ceilings, exposed timbers, and an open, inspiring design that blends the charm of its past with the functionality of a contemporary workspace. It is home to Foremost Media on the second floor and now welcomes Workspace at The Gray Goose, providing a professional and creative environment for entrepreneurs, remote workers, and growing businesses.
